This time, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon is expected to address a joint meeting of both chambers of the parliament next month, a source within the Tajik government told Asia-Plus in an interview.

According to him, the postponement of the presidential address to the parliament to a later date is connected with the fact that the next final meeting of the government to review the results of the past year's work and set plans for the next year is planned to take place in January.

Since 2015, a joint meeting of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) and the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) has taken place in December at the Kokhi Somon State Complex in Dushanbe.

Heads of all provinces, cities and districts as well as ministries and agencies have been invited to attend the meeting.

Usually, in an address to the parliament, the president discusses the country’s priorities in domestic politics and foreign policy as well as the main economic challenges.
