New Year’s gifts will be given to all soldiers and officers of the Ministry of Defense as well cadets of military schools and families of servicemen who died in the line of military duty on behalf of President Emomali Rahmon, who is also Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan, according to the press center of the Ministry of Defense (MoD).

More than 20,000 soldiers and officers of the Defense Ministry will receive New Year’s gifts, the source said.  

Servicemen of the National Guard, Internal Troops of the Interior Ministry, Border Troops as well as servicemen of Rescue Military Units of the Emergencies Committee and Convoy Brigade of the Ministry of Justice will also receive New Year’s gifts from the president.

A New Year’s gift basket reportedly includes fruits, soft drinks, sweeties and canned foods.

Tajikistan’s armed forces consist of Ground Forces, Mobile Forces (paratroopers of the armed forces of Tajikistan), Air Force and Air Defense Force.
