Iran’s interior minister pays working visit to Tajikistan

Iranian media reports say Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli arrived in Dushanbe yesterday for talks on bilateral and regional issues. Iranian media reports say Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli arrived in Dushanbe yesterday for talks on bilateral and regional issues.

Tasnim News Agency says Rahmani Fazli traveled to Tajikistan at an official invitation of is Tajik counterpart Ramazon Rahimzoda.  

According to Iran Press, Rahmani Fazli is accompanied by Mohammad Sadegh Motamedian, Governor of Khorasan Razavi, Babak Dinparast, Deputy Coordinator of Economic Affairs and Regional Development, and Rahim Saki, Director of the Information and International Affairs Center of the Ministry of Interior.

He is reportedly going to hold meetings with Tajik authorities on the promotion of relations between the two countries.

Abdul Reza Rahmani Fazli is scheduled to meet with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Tajik Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Ramazan Rahimzoda to discuss developing bilateral cooperation, Iran Press said.

Mehr News Agency says Iran and Tajikistan have so far held thirteen joint commissions to confer on bilateral ties.

Iran was the first nation to establish an embassy in Dushanbe. It was also one of the first countries to extend diplomatic recognition of the newly independent Tajikistan in 1991.
