A 22-year-old resident of Khorog, the capital of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), Ayni Zikrillobekov was detained on March 12 on suspicion of committing a number of crimes including insulting a representative of the authority, according to the Interior Ministry’s official website.  

“His deed are covered by the following articles of the country’s Penal Code: Article 237 – hooliganism; Article 328 — use of violence against a representative of the authority; and Article 330 – insulting a representative of the authority,” the Interior Ministry’s website says.  

The website refrained from giving further details of the case, just saying that criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detainee and an investigation is under way.
