Police have detained a woman suspected of killing a 7-year-old boy.

Muhsinjon Muhammadi, a spokesman for the Dushanbe Police Department, says a 53-year-old Muborak Abdurahmonova has been detained in Dushanbe after eight days of searching and she is now custody.

Recall, the tragedy took place in Dushanbe on March 5.  Muborak Abdurahmonova is the wife of the uncle of the boy’s father, and the boy’s parents consider that the woman could have killed their son out of envy.

The boy’s aunt says they have not spoken to the woman since 2017 following another family quarrel.

“Some media outlets report that Muborak suffers from mental illness, but it is not true, she is a very healthy woman and does not suffer from any diseases.  She could have killed the boy out of envy, because she has always envied my mom, the boy's grandmother,” the boy’s aunt noted.
