A new TV channel “Ilm va Tabiat” (Science and Nature) was launched in Tajikistan today, a source within the Committee for TV and radio-broadcasting u der the Government of Tajikistan, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Launching the new TV channel is timed to coincide with a Day of Tajik Science, which is celebrated on April 14.  

The “Ilm va Tabiat” TV channel will offer programs about the achievements of domestic and world science.

It also plans to broadcast lessons on natural and exact sciences.  For this, experienced teachers will be invited.  

The head of the Tajik Journalists’ Zinatullo Ismoilzoda has been appointed to head the “Ilm va Tabiat” TV Channel.   

Recall, the head of the Committee for TV and Radio-broadcasting, Nouriddin Said, told reporters in Dushanbe on July 22, 2020 that 13 national TV channels, 35 private TV stations, 10 national radio stations, 24 private radio stations and 14 audiovisual production studios now operate in the country.  .

To-date, only 65 percent of Tajikistan’s population has access to digital television, he noted.
