Tajik President Emomali Rahmon today paid a working visit to Nourobod district (Rasht Valley in northeast Tajikistan).

According to the Tajik president’s official website, the main purpose of the visit is for the head of state to get acquainted with the socioeconomic situation in the district, inaugurate a number of new facilities and attend ground-breaking ceremonies for construction of new economic and social facilities in Nourobod. 

The head of state is also scheduled to hold a meeting with regional administrators, the president’s official website said.   

Nourobod District is a district in Tajikistan is one of the nine districts subordinate the center (Districts of Republican Subordination).   Formerly known as Darband District, Nourobod District lies east of Roghun City, south of Vahdat Township and Rasht District, and west of Sangvor District.  Its southern border is with Khatlon Province.  The administrative center of Nourobod District is the town of Darband.  As of January 2020, the population of the district was 82,100.
