The visit was short-term

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin received on 4 September the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Luigi Di Maio.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the main topics of the bilateral agenda and discussed upcoming political contacts.

Particular attention was paid to the development of interaction between Tajikistan and Italy in the political, trade, economic, humanitarian and security spheres, reported by the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The parties also discussed the situation in Afghanistan and the region and emphasized the unity of approaches in the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, transnational crime and other security threats.

The Foreign Ministers expressed their readiness to continue contacts and consultations at all levels on topical issues of Tajik-Italian and regional cooperation.
