Several dozen ethnic Tajiks gathered on Friday, September 10, at the UN headquarters in New York for a rally in connection with the situation in the Afghan province of Panjshir, TASS reports.

Participants called for support of the leader of the resistance forces, Ahmad Massoud, the son of the famous warlord Ahmad Shah Massoud. According to one of the organizers of the action, Abdurakhim Umarov, the protesters are in favor of peace in Afghanistan and normalization of the situation in Panjshir.

We want to draw the attention of governments and international organizations, including the UN, to this problem", he said in an interview with a TASS correspondent.

According to Umarov, residents of Panjshir cannot purchase necessary goods and food. He called on the world organization and key countries to support the people in this province.
