Speaking at the Second Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan's Neighboring Countries + Russia in Tehran, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin noted on October 27 that the current situation in Afghanistan requires from the nearest neighbors of Afghanistan to make more effort to restore peace and stability in that country, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

The current situation in Afghanistan lately has been a problem not only for the Afghan people but also one of the most acute regional and global problems, Tajik foreign minister said.

Tajik foreign minister one again called on the international community to take urgent measures to provide peace and stability in Afghanistan and stabilize the difficult political and security situation as soon as possible through negotiations.

Recall, the first meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighbors — Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Iran and China — took place in a virtual format on September 8, 2021.

The ministers stressed the need to promote this format for discussing the current situation in Afghanistan, as a new mechanism for cooperation between neighboring countries.

The sides stressed that the international community, in cooperation with the countries of the region, should play an important role in establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan and provide it with the necessary economic, social and humanitarian assistance.
