Tajikistan’s external trade turnover has amounted to about 5 billion U.S. dollars over the first ten of this year, which is which is 32.6 percent of the level of January-October of 2020 level, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan

In January-October this year, the trade balance was negative and amounted to nearly 1.7 billion U.S. dollars.

Exports of goods in January-October have reportedly amounted to more than 1.6 billion U.S. dollars, which is 33.6 percent more than in the same period last year.

Over the reporting period, period, the country’s exports mainly included precious and semiprecious stones and metal — 42.3 percent, mineral resources – 29.3 percent, base metals and manufactures thereof – 12.9 percent, and textile materials – 11.4 cement. 

In January-October this year, the major trading partners of Tajikistan’s exports were: Switzerland – 42.3 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s exports; Kazakhstan – 16.1 percent; Turkey – 11.1 percent; China – 7.3 percent; Uzbekistan – 6.0 percent; Afghanistan –  4.6 percent; Belgium – 4.3 percent; and Russia – 3.2 percent.

Imports of goods into the country over the same ten-month period have amounted to more than 3.3 billion U.S. dollars, which was 32.1 percent more than in January-October last year.

The main items of Tajikistan’s imports over the reporting period were: mineral products – 17.2 percent; machinery and equipment – 16.6 percent; base metals and manufactures thereof – 10.1 percent; finished food products – 9.2 percent; plant products – 8.9 percent; products, products of chemical industry – 8.6 percent; vehicles – 7.9 percent; and others – 21.5 percent.

Over the reporting period, the major trading partners of Tajikistan’s imports were: Russia – 28.5 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s imports; Kazakhstan – 19.9 percent; China – 17.6 percent; Uzbekistan – 7.6 percent; and Turkey – 3.9 percent. 

Over the same ten-month period, major trading partners of Tajikistan were: Russia – more than 1 billion U.S. dollars (a two-way trade turnover); Kazakhstan – more than 936 million U.S. dollars; Switzerland – 726 million U.S. dollars; China – 709 million U.S. dollars; and Uzbekistan – 354 million U.S. dollars.
