Beginning on January 1, 2022, tinted glass permit fees will be raised in Tajikistan again.  This time, the fees will rise 6.7 percent.

The rise in the tinted glass permit fees results from increasing calculating indicator (estimate).   The RT Law “On the National Budget for 2022” notes that the calculating indicator will rise 6.7 percent beginning on January 1, 2022.  Starting from January 1, 2022, the indicator for calculating taxes, state duties, other mandatory payment, fines, social payments as well as for calculating certain cost limiting values calculating will be set at 64.00 somonis.  The country’s law on the budget sets the estimate, taking into account the inflation rate projected for the corresponding year.

Beginning on January 22, 2022, owners of cars manufactured before 2004 will have to pay for the tinted glass permit 4,160 somonis instead of the current 3,900 somonis and owners of cars manufactured in 2005 and later will have to pay for the tinted glass permit 5,504 somonis instead of the previous 5,160 somonis.

The source says the rise in fees has resulted from increasing accounting index, which is used for payment of taxes, duties and fines.

It is to be noted that on January 1, 2019, it was the third increase in fees for tinted glass permit in the country since 2011.

For the first time, the tinted glass permit fees were raised on January 1, 2011 – to 2,000 somonis for cars manufactured before 2004 and to 2,480 somonis for cars manufactured in 2005 and later.

On January 1, 2017, the tinted glass permit fees rose 25 percent – to 2,500 somonis for cars manufactured before 2004 and to 3,100 somonis for cars manufactured in 2005 and later.

Starting from January 1, 2019, the tinted glass permit fees reportedly rose 10 percent.  Owners of cars manufactured before 2004 had to pay for the tinted glass permit 2,750 somonis and owners of cars manufactured in 2005 and later had to pay for the tinted glass permit 3,410 somonis.

The Tajik authorities say all payments for permits for dark tint and fines for breaking the car window tinting standards have been directly remitted to the bank account opened to support construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power plant (HPP).

The amendments requiring fees for permit for dark tint and penalty fees for unauthorized change of the car window tinting standards came into effect on January 1, 2010.

Under the current regulations, at least 75 per cent of light must pass through the driver’s side windows and vehicles may have tint on the windshield as dark as 25 percent, windows to the immediate left and right of the driver — 30 percent, and rear windows – 30.

If car owners want to have other tinted glass parameters they have to obtain tinted glass permit.
