The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Ukraine Davlatali Nazrizoda met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Senik in Kyiv on December 30, 2021.

The Tajik MFA information department says the two discussed the state and prospects of further expansion of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Ukraine.

They, in particular, discussed issues related to economic and humanitarian collaboration between the two countries.

During the meeting, Nazrizoda and Senik reportedly also discussed resumption of direct air service between Dushanbe and Kyiv.

Besides, the parties also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues being of mutual interest.

The two also discussed the holding of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, the Tajik-Ukrainian business forum and the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Ukraine.

They noted that a lot has been done to expand the bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries positively assessed the results of the past year’s work, the Tajik MFA information department said.

Diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Ukraine were established on April 24, 1993.  Bilateral relations are based on a Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and Ukraine, signed on July 6, 2001.  Tajik students have been trained in higher educational institutions of Ukraine.

Ukrainian enterprises, companies and organizations have participated in the implementation of hydropower development, the construction of transmission lines, and the establishment of joint ventures in the oil and gas industries.  In 2009, the Joint Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Tajik Commission for Economic Cooperation was established, where agreements in the trade, economic, energy, transport and humanitarian spheres take place.
