Tajikistan Ambassador to Turkey Ashrafjon Gulov yesterday met in Ankara with the Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Alparslan Bayraktar.

The Tajik MFA information department says that during the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the current state and prospects of further expansion of the bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkey in the fields of energy and mining, particularly in the framework of the Tajik-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation.

It was reportedly noted that energy is one of the priority sectors of the economy of Tajikistan.  Tajikistan’s energy sector reportedly attracts attention of foreign investors to the country as Tajikistan's hydropower potential is estimated at 527 billion kWh per year

The parties also agreed to organize virtual meetings in the energy and mining sectors in the near future to obtain additional information on opportunities of investing in Tajikistan, as a result of which they will send their business delegations to Tajikistan and Turkey, the Tajik MFA information department notes.
