On Wednesday January 19, Tajikistan Ambassador to Ukraine Davlatali Nazrizoda met in Odessa City with the Odessa Oblast Governor Sergey Grinevetsky.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Ukraine in the fields of trade, industry, energy, transport, transit, agriculture, education and healthcare, the Tajik MFA information department says.

A particular attention was reportedly paid to the issues related to expanding cooperation between the regions of Tajikistan and Ukraine, arranging a forum with participation of representatives of the business communities of the two countries and launching joint industrial enterprises.

Odessa oblast, Ukraine’s largest province by area, is 33.314 km2, approximately the size of Belgium. It is located along the northern coast of the Black Sea.  Its administrative center is the city of Odesa.

Significant branches of the oblast's economy are: oil refining and chemicals processing; transportation (important sea and river ports, oil pipelines and railway); and viticulture and other forms of agriculture, notably the growing of wheat, maize, barley, sunflowers and sugar beets.

The region's industrial capability is principally concentrated in and around the city of Odesa.
