Saudi Arabia will provide assistance to 9,500 vulnerable families in Tajikistan in the anticipation of the holy month of Ramadan, Saudi Ambassador to Tajikistan Waleed bin Abdulrahman Al-Reshaidan told reporters in Dushanbe on February 23.  

It was noted that the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) Saudi King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aid will provide assistance to Tajikistanis in the form of food essentials.  

Based on an agreement, Tajikistan’s Red Crescent Society will distribute the assistance to the vulnerable families in close collaboration with local authorities.

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) was established by King Salman bin Abdulaziz in 2015.  The Center was established in the framework of the Saudi’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of those in need worldwide.  KSRelief has concluded a number of agreements with the UNHCR that aim at supporting refugees from Syria, Yemen and Rohingya.

In Tajikistan, Saudi Arabia provided humanitarian assistance to vulnerable families through KSRelief in a total amount of 12 million US dollars. 

Meanwhile, the Tajik MFA information department reports that Saudi Ambassador to Tajikistan Waleed bin Abdulrahman Al-Reshaidan yesterday met with Tajik Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sharaf Sheralizoda.

The parties, reportedly discussed states and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Saudi Arabia in various fields.  

They also discussed the preparatory process of the forthcoming session of the Tajik-Saudi Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Trade, Investment, Technical and Cultural Cooperation, to be held in Dushanbe this year.
