The foreign trade turnover of Tajikistan in January-August this year amounted to about $4.8 billion, which is 18.4% more than in the same period of 2021, the statistical office of the republic reports.

Export of Tajik products amounted to about $1.5 billion, and imported goods worth about $3.3 billion. Thus, the trade balance deficit was almost $1.8 billion..

The volume of exports compared with January-July 2021 increased by 6%, and imports – by 25.1%.

The vast majority of Tajikistan's exports consist of various raw materials. Thus, mineral products (cement, electricity, ores, concentrates, etc.) account for 38.5% of the country's exports, precious and semi-precious metals and stones – 27.8%, base metals (aluminum) and products from them – 15.5%, textile materials and products from them – 13.1%.

The main import positions are occupied by mineral products (petroleum products, liquefied gas, coal and other products) – 18.9% (of total imports), machinery and equipment – 12.9%, base metals and products from them – 10.6% , products of the chemical industry – 10.3%, prepared food products – 8.7%, products of plant origin – 8.1%, etc.
