The next hearing on the case of journalist Abdullo Gurbati is scheduled to be held in the Dushanbe temporary detention center of the GUIN of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic. On Thursday, September 29, the state prosecutor demanded that he be sentenced to 8 years in prison to be served in a penal colony.

The fact that the court hearing will take place today at two o'clock in the afternoon, "Asia-Plus" was informed by the wife of the journalist Muborak Kosim.

According to Abdurakhmon Sharipov's lawyer, the journalist could be sentenced as early as this week

Earlier, the journalist's wife appealed to the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon with a request to assist in the release of her husband.

In her open letter to the president, posted on her Facebook page on September 30, she wrote that her husband was never a member of the banned Islamic Renaissance Party and was not involved in insulting and beating a law enforcement officer..

«The main complaint comes down to some of his Facebook posts, which he wrote on emotions, and they have nothing to do with supporting opposition groups. Everyone makes mistakes, but they can be forgiven. Of course, treason is not forgiven, but Abdullah never betrayed the state and the nation», — writes Muborak Kosim.
