Tajikistan and Kuwait have reportedly agreed to launch direct air route that will connect the Tajik and Kuwait capitals – Dushanbe and Al-Kuwait.

According to information from the Civil Aviation Agency under the Government of Tajikistan, the first flight on this route will be operated on December 29.

The flight is set to operate twice-weekly service on Thursdays and Saturdays.  Kuwaiti airline Jazeera Airways will operate flights on this air route.

An official within the Civil Aviation Agency says the Kuwaiti airline expressed wish to launch this air route and they supported this initiative.

To-date, Tajikistan has reportedly resumed regular air service with Russia, China, United Arab Emirates, Turkiye, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Germany.  The regular air service with China has been temporary suspended due to the coronavirus situation in China.

Jazeera Airways K.S.C is a Kuwaiti airline with its head office on the grounds of Kuwait International Airport in Al Farwaniyah Governorate, Kuwait.  It operates scheduled services in the Middle East, Nepal, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Europe.  Its main base is Kuwait International Airport. The airline has grown since its launch to become Kuwait's second national airline.  Jazeera Airways is one of the largest operators at Kuwait airport.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the State of Kuwait were established on March 31, 1995.  Tajik President Emomali Rahmon paid three official visits to the State of Kuwait (April 17-19, 1995, June 23-25, 2013 and May 15-17, 2016).  During these visits, he had meetings with high-ranking Kuwaiti state officials to discuss cooperation.

The Tajikistan/Kuwait Parliamentary Friendship Group, whose aim is to foster stronger relations between the two countries and their elected representatives, was established in 2014.

The first round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries was held on April 7, 2015 in Dushanbe and the second round on April 2-4, 2018 in Al-Kuwait.
