This year, Asia-Plus Media Group is holding the festive action “Modaroni Dushanbe” (Mothers of Dushanbe), which has become the annual action in the Tajik capital,  within the Spotlight Initiative, EU-UN joint program.

This time, the action is dedicated not only to International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day holiday, which is celebrated in Tajikistan since 2009, but also to a family as a whole.

A festively decorated bus is carrying women along the Roudaki Avenue today and tomorrow free of charge.  Besides, various gifts and surprises are waiting for them.

The bus is running along route 3 and any woman may get on the festive bus adorned with flowers and balloons.  Various gifts and surprises are waiting for her today.

This year, the action is carried out under support of the Dushanbe Administration, the Committee for Family and Women’s Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan and the EU-funded Spotlight Initiative, which is implemented in Tajikistan by the Unite Nations.

The event has been held in the Tajik capital since 2018.

Recall, International Women’s Day has been known in Tajikistan as the Day of the Mother since March 2009.

Congratulating women on March 8, 2009, President Emomali Rahmon said that International Women’s Day has only been celebrated on March 8 for about 100 years, but that ancient Aryan women — the ancestors of the Tajiks — had special days both for mothers, specifically, and for women in general.
