On Monday March 13, outgoing Pakistani Ambassador to Tajikistan Imran Haidar met here with Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister Farhod Sailim at the end of his tenure to Tajikistan. 

The Tajik MFA information department says that during the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with the achieved level of mutually beneficial relations between the two countries.

Both sides reportedly also highlighted their interest in developing cooperation in the economic, investment and cultural areas.  

Mr. Imran Haidar had served as Ambassador of the Islamic republic of Pakistan to Tajikistan since July 2019.

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan were established on June 6, 1992, and they celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2022.

Cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan dates back to 1991.

In 1993, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan opened its Embassy in Dushanbe, and its activities began in early 1994.

The Republic of Tajikistan started its bilateral cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan with opening Consulate in 1997, but Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan was began its activity in Pakistan on February 23, 2005.

Relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan are based on mutual respect and joint collaboration. There are extensive opportunities for cooperation between both countries in the field of energy, industry, defense, economy, tourism and economy.

The two countries are only 16 kilometers apart at their closest point.  The Wakhan Corridor is a narrow strip of territory in northeastern Afghanistan that extends to China and separates Tajikistan from Pakistan.

Pakistan MFA notes that Pakistan and Tajikistan are brotherly countries linked through longstanding historical, cultural and religious bonds. These ties are reportedly marked by mutual respect and exceptional cordiality.  The two countries have commonality of views on various regional and international issues.
