On Monday March 13, a delegation of Tajik entrepreneurs met in the Russian city Lipetsk with senior representatives of Russian company Forsazh LLC to discuss issues related to launching  joint venture on producing fuels and lubricants in the Tajik northern province of Sughd, the press center of the Lipetsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) said on March 13.

The joint venture is expected to be launched in the Sughd Free Economic Zone.

Before that, a delegation of entrepreneurs of Russia’s Lipetsk oblast visited Tajikistan on March 2-4.  The visited free economic zone located in the Tajik northern city of Khujand and in Danghara district of Khatlon province to get acquainted with investment environment, tax preferences, infrastructure, priorities of their operations and manufactured products.

In the course of the talks, the Tajik side reportedly expressed interest in launching a joint venture for the production of fuels and lubricants.

Then, following the results of this business mission, representatives of corporate residents of the Sughd Free Economic Zone arrived in Lipetsk oblast to directly get acquainted with the production potential of Forsazh LLC and the equipment on which they will work in the future, the Lipetsk CCI press center said.

The Sughd Free Economic Zone or FEZ Sughd is a free economic zone located in the northern Sughd province on the territory of the south-west industrial zone of the city of Khujand.  FEZ Sughd was created in 2008 by a parliamentary decree on 320 hectares of land for 25 years and began operating in August 2009.  Geological and geodetic surveys were made in this area as well as the design work was carried out.  In this part of the city there is a possibility to expand the territory of Sughd FEZ for up to 2,000 hectares of land at the expense of free space in the future.

Choosing a location Sughd FEZ was due to the presence of the industrial and communications infrastructure in this area relatively close proximity of residential areas of Khujand city, the presence of new bridge over Syr-Darya River, and construction of a branch railway to FEZ Sughd in the future.

One of the most important criteria in choosing a site to start a business is the geographical location. Sughd FEZ provides with a favorable site for export-oriented enterprises. Developed transport network system of Khujand provides with a wide range of opportunities for export and trade with near- and far abroad countries.

To-date, the Administration of the FEZ Sughd has thirty corporate residents of the free economic zone.  The zone offers customs and tax incentives to qualified investors that invest at least 500,000 USD and import at least 90% of the technology and equipment.
