Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin attended the fourth ministerial meeting of Afghanistan’s neighboring states with the participation of Tajikistan and six other countries.

Muhriddin held separate meetings with his participating counterparts on the sidelines of the event, which took place in the Uzbek city of Samarkand on April 13.   

His meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Murat Nurtleu that took place on April 13 reportedly focused on a number of topical issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

The two reportedly also discussed the upcoming visit of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to Kazakhstan, which is scheduled for early May.  

In Samarkand, Muhriddin yesterday also met with his Belarusian counterpart Sergei Aleinik.  They discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Belarus.  

On April 13, Muhriddin also held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amirabdullahian on the margins of the 4th ministerial meeting on Afghan issues.

The Tajik MFA information department says the ministers discussed overriding agenda of bilateral relations between the countries in various fields and other issues of mutual interest.  The two reportedly stressed the importance of continuous development of multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran.  

Iran’s state-run news agency IRNA says the two foreign ministers discussed bilateral relations and regional developments on Thursday.  They reportedly called for the further expansion of mutual cooperation in different fields.

Sirojiddin Muhriddin yesterday also met in Samarkand the State Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar.

According to the Tajik MFA information department, they discussed a complex of important issues of cooperation between the two countries and certain issues of the international and regional agenda became the subject of mutual discussion.
