Over the first six months of this year, Tajikistan’s external trade turnover amounted to 3.415 billion U.S. dollars, which is 2.8 percent, or 98.2 million US dollars, fewer than in the same period last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Over the reporting period, the trade balance was negative and amounted to 2.057.8 billion U.S. dollars.

In January-June this year, Tajikistan reportedly had trade relations with 106 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.

Exports of goods over the first six months have amounted to 678.6 million U.S. dollars, which is 44.2 percent, or 536.68 million U.S. dollars, less than in January-June last year.

Over the reporting period, the country’s exports included mainly mineral products (cement, ores and concentrates, electricity, coals) – 44.8 percent, non-ferrous metals (aluminum) and products made from them – 22.1 percent, products of plant origin – 3.8 percent, products of chemical industry – 2.7 percent, machinery and equipment – 5.8 percent, textiles – 17.6 percent, other goods – 3.2 percent.  

In January-June, the major trading partners of Tajikistan’s exports were: Kazakhstan – 22.6 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s exports; China – 21.6 percent; Turkiye – 12.5 percent; Russia – 12.4 percent; Uzbekistan – 10.3 percent; Iran – 6.9 percent; Afghanistan – 6.2 percent; Singapore – 1.5 percent; the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – 1.4 percent; Italy and the Virgin Islands — 1.1 percent each; and others. 

Imports of goods into the country over the reporting period have amounted to 2.736.4 billion U.S. dollars, which is 19.1 percent, or 438.4 million U.S. dollars more than in January-June last year. 

Over the six five months of this year, the main items of Tajikistan’s imports period were: mineral products – 17.1; machinery and equipment – 13.5; products of chemical industry – 8.1 percent; non-ferrous metals (aluminum) and products made from them – 10.2 percent; products of plant origin – 7.9 percent; finished food products – 8.1 percent; fats and oils of animal and vegetable origin – 2.5 percent, polymer materials, rubber and products of them – 3.2 percent; wood and wood products – 4.1 percent, other goods – 25.3 percent.  

In January-June this year, the major trading partners of Tajikistan’s imports were: Russia – 27.9 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s imports; China – 20.4 percent; Kazakhstan – 14.8 percent; Uzbekistan – 5.5 percent; the United States – 5.2 percent; Turkiye and Germany – 3.4 percent; Japan – 3.1 percent; Iran – 2.5 percent; India – 1.7 percent; Belarus –  1.6 percent; France – 3.2 percent; Iran – 2.4 percent; the Republic of Korea – 1.5 percent; Pakistan – 1.2 percent; Turkmenistan – 1.0 percent; and others.
