Tajik President Emomali Rahmon met here with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who arrived in Dushanbe to attend the Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia as a guest of honor, according to the Tajik president’s official website.  

In the course of the talks, the parties reportedly discussed a range of issues related to the bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan.  

Emomali Rahmon welcomed the high-ranking guest and expressed confidence that participation of the leader of Azerbaijan in the fifth Central Asian summit will become a factor in further expansion of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.  

The parties reportedly focused on the implementation of agreements reached during Azerbaijani president’s state visit to Tajikistan that took place in May this year and further expansion of trade and economic cooperation as well as cultural and humanitarian ties between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan.  

During the meeting, Rahmon and Aliyev also exchanged views on a number of select international and regional issues being of mutual interest, the Tajik president’s official website added.
