A killer of a 5-year-old Tajik girl Huvaido Tillozoda in Moscow oblast has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

The Court of Cassation has reviewed the verdict rendered by the Moscow Regional Court and sentenced Alexander Syomin to life imprisonment, Huvaido’s father Abdusalom Saidov told Asia-Plus by phone.

The new verdict was reported rendered on September 13.

According to Russian legislation, the verdict of the court of second instance comes into force from the moment of its proclamation.  However, Syomin has the right to appeal the verdict of the cassation court within six months.

The convict protested against the life sentence.

As it had been reported earlier, the Moscow Regional Court sentenced Alexander Syomin to 24 years in prison on March 15.  The sentence followed his conviction on charges of rape and murder.

The trial over the brutal murder of the 5-year-old Huvaido Tillozoda that resumed in Moscow on December 22, 2021 lasted for five years.  It is to be noted that the trial has been postponed several times. For the last time, the trial was postponed for four months.

The brutal murder of the five-year-old national of Tajikistan, Huvaido Tillozoda, which took place on July 22, 2018 in the Russian city of Serpukhov, has caused strong indignation and shock in Tajikistan.

The Tajik authorities in 2018 urged Russian relevant bodies to carry out a thorough investigation into the murder and demand severe punishment to the criminal who committed that inhuman act.

Recall, the five-year-old Huvaido was found dead on July 23, 2018 not far from the railway station in the city of Serpukhov, Moscow oblast.

The girl reportedly disappeared on July 22 while she was playing in the yard of the apartment building, in which her family lived.

The girl was found dead next day without visible signs of violence.

A 28-year-old resident of Serpukhov, Alexander Syomin, who lives in the same apartment building, was detained on suspicion of raping and killing the girl.

According to Moskovsky Komsomolets, fingerprints of the girl and traces of her shoes were found in the man’s apartment.

Meanwhile, neighbors say that two girls in June 2018 complained that Syomin was running after them with his pants down.  Their mothers applied to police but they did not institute criminal proceedings, limiting themselves just to conversation with the man.
