As part of his official visit to Russia, President Emomali Rahmon yesterday also met with the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin.  

According to the Tajik president’s official website, the parties discussed state and prospects of further expansion of trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation.

Sectors like mining, energy, metallurgy, chemical, light and food industries, agriculture, pharmaceutics and production of building materials were outlined as areas which could drive the bilateral trade between the two countries.

At the same time, the parties noted that there is still a room for further expansion of trade and economic cooperation Tajikistan and the Russian Federation.  

It was noted that the two-way trade between Tajikistan and Russian last year valued at 1.7 billion US dollars, which was 24 percent more than in 2021.  

The official website of the Russian government notes that Mishustin said that the Russian Government will make every effort to ensure prompt implementation of every agreement reached at the highest level.

According him, mutual investment is also on the rise, with Russian capital investment in the economy of Tajikistan already exceeding 148 billion rubles.
