Private mobile phone companies operating in Tajikistan earn 2.778 billion somonis in Jan-Sept this year

According to data from the communications service agency, revenues of mobile phone companies operating in Tajikistan over the first nine months of this year have amounted to 2.9149 billion somonis (equivalent to more than 267 million US dollars), which is 10.2 percent more than in the same period last year.   

As far as private mobile phone companies operating in Tajikistan are concerned, they have reportedly earned 2.7781 billion somonis over the reporting period, which is 11.2 percent more than in January-September last year. 

Meanwhile, the revenues of the divisions of the national telecom operator Tojiktelecom, State Unitary Enterprise (SUE) Pochtai Tojik (Tajik Post) as well as other divisions the Communications Service under the Government of Tajikistan over the same nine-month period have amounted to 136.8 million somonis, which is 6.3 percent fewer than in the same period last year (In 2022, they reportedly earned 146 million somonis). 

As of October 1, 2023, a total number of Internet users in Tajikistan was about 4 million people (both mobile internet and fixed broadband internet).

As of October 1, 2023, a total number of subscribers in the country was 6.5 million people, with about 5.6 million of them being active mobile phone users.  

Tajikistan routinely ranks toward the bottom of international standings in terms of Internet speed and prices offered by Internet service providers (ISPs).

As of October 1, 2023, the Speedtest Global Index ranks Tajikistan 138th among 142 countries in terms of mobile Internet speed and 136th among 162 counties in terms of fixed broadband internet speed.

Worldwide Mobile Data Pricing 2023 (measured June to September 2023) ranks Tajikistan 142nd among 237 countries in terms of the cost of 1Gb of mobile data.  In Tajikistan, an average price for 1GB of mobile data is US$1.65.
