Kazakhstan’s Railway Company (Kazakhstan Temir Zholy) offers Tajikistan’s cargo carriers 30- and 50-percent discounts on rail freight that contributes to an increase in cargo transportation volumes.

The Tajik Ministry of Transport (MoT)’s press center says this was discussed at a meeting of Tajik Minister of Transport Azim Ibrohim with Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Tajikistan Valikhan Turakhanov that took place here on December 6.

The parties reportedly discussed issues related to further expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the transportation, the MoT’s press center reports.

Currently, there are five road routes functioning between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan: 1) Khujand-Shimkent; 2) Khujand-Ush-Konir; 3) Bokhtar-Sarugazh; 4) Khujand – Zhibek Zholi; 5) and Khujand-Irgeli.

Kazakh ambassador expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation between the two countries that will contribute to further expansion of it, especially in the transportation sector, according to the MoT’s press center.

Over the first eleven months of this year, 5,259 people have reportedly been carried between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan by all types of transportation.

In August this year, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy noted that the railway companies of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan will launch a joint venture.
