Tajikistan and Russia have reached an agreement on constructing the educational center and completing the construction of a new building for the Mayakovsky Russian Drama Theater in Dushanbe.

The CIS Executive Committee says this issue was discussed at a meeting of the Tajik-Russian intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation that took place in Moscow on December 18 on the margins of the ‘Rossiya’ (Russia) International Exhibition and Forum, which kicked off at VDNKh on December 4, 2023 and will run for six months until April 2024.

Presided over by Co-chairmen Qohir Rasoulzoda, Prime Minister of Tajikistan and Marat Husnullin, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, the meeting reportedly resulted in signing of a number of cooperation documents, including the agreements on construction of the Educational Center for Talented Children and completion of the construction of a new building for the Mayakovsky Russian Drama Theater in Dushanbe.

Speaking at the meeting, Husnullin reportedly noted that relations between the two countries are entering a new stage of interaction.

“Today, our relations with the Republic of Tajikistan are entering a new stage of closer interaction.  Even in conditions of geopolitical turbulence, the Russian-Tajik relations of strategic partnership and alliance are developing in an upward direction,” the Russian deputy prime minister said, noting that  despite geopolitical challenges, the strategic partnership and alliance between the two countries is developing successfully.

The Russian official further added that in the coming year they plan to focus the bilateral cooperation with Tajikistan on sectors like tourism and transportation (development of transport corridors).

He also pointed to the necessity of making every effort to further increase the bilateral trade between the two countries.

Qohir Rasoulzoda, for his part, noted that Tajikistan is ready to make every effort to expand the strategic cooperation with the Russian Federation.

During the meeting, the parties reportedly discussed the important directions of cooperation and signed a number of key cooperation documents, including a protocol on joint activities on economic cooperation.
