The 16th session of the Tajik-Iranian Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation () took place in Dushanbe on December 26.

Tajikistan’s state-run news agency Khovar, citing the State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest), says the parties reached an agreement on the expansion of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in trade, financial, energy, transportation, communications and modern technologies, industry, technical and engineering, health, investment, and tourism sectors.

They reportedly also agreed to launch joint industrial ventures in Tajikistan with attraction of Iranian investments.

The parties also discussed issues related to holding the Tajikistan-Iran Investment Forum in Iran’s capital, Tehran, in 2024 and intensifying activities of the Joint Committee on Investment and Implementation of Joint Projects.

Iran’s state-run news agency IRNA says the closing ceremony of the event resulting in the signing of a protocol of the 16th session of the Commission is being held today with the participation of Iran’s Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian, and Tajikistan Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma.

The previous 15th session of the Commission took place in Tehran on December 5-6, 2022.
