Iranian media reports reported on January 9 that Mr. Jürgen Stock, Secretary General of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), has condemned the January 3 terrorist attacks on the southern Iranian city of Kerman, describing the incident as cruel.

IRNA sys Interpol is ready to support the Islamic Republic and cooperate with the country in the international arenas.

Jürgen assured Iran’s Police Chief Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Radan in a condolences message over the sad event, IRNA reported on Tuesday.

In his message, the Interpol chief reportedly expressed sympathy with the Iranian Police and the families of the victims and condemned the cruel attack which led to killing and injuring many innocent people.

Iran Press (IP) says twin suicide attacks occurred in Kerman on January 3, 2024, killing some 91 people and wounding 284 others.

A day later, the Daesh (the Arabic acronym for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attacks that targeted people who were on their way to visit the grave of Martyr Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani four years after he was assassinated in a US drone strike in the Iraq’s capital, Baghdad.

In a statement released on January 5, Iran's Ministry of Intelligence claimed that one of the alleged suicide bombers held Tajikistani nationality.

Speaking in a TV program, Kerman Prosecutor Mahdi Bakhshi said on January 6 that 32 people related to the Kerman terrorist crime have been arrested.
