The Forum and the International Tourist Exhibition, dubbed “Welcome to the Ancient Khatlon”, took place in the city of Kulob on March 5.

The press release issued by the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) Office in Tajikistan says the governor and deputy governors of Khatlon province, heads of some cities and districts of the province, representatives of diplomatic corps, development partners, including the AKDN Resident Representative in Tajikistan, Mr. Qozidavlat Qoimdodov, and representatives of domestic and foreign tourism companies and entrepreneurs took part in the work of the Forum.

The Forum was inaugurated by the welcome speech of Khatlon Governor, Mr. Davlatali Said.  He further on presented the opportunities of Khatlon province for attraction of investments in the field of tourism.

During the opening remarks, the AKDN Resident Representative Qozidavlat Qoimdodov mentioned about the AKDN activities in the republic and precisely in Khatlon province, opportunities for cooperation in the field of tourism, and noted the best practices in the development of the tourism industry.

In conclusion it was noted that AKDN is ready to continue beneficial cooperation with еру Khatlon executive authorities for the sake of development and improvement of services in the field of tourism.

It is worth mentioning that on the sidelines of the Forum, the AKDN Resident Representative in Tajikistan Qozidavlat Qoimdodov and the Chief Executive Officer of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) in Tajikistan Mr. Kishwar Abdulalishoev met with Khatlon Governor, Mr. Davlatali Said, to discuss prospects of further expansion of cooperation.  The parties expressed their satisfaction with the existing state of cooperation and expressed their readiness to set up further cooperation in priority and important social and economic spheres of Khatlon province.
