Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has congratulated Vladimir Putin on a landslide victory in the Russian presidential election.

The Tajik president’s official website says Rahmon sent a cable of congratulations to Vladimir Putin on March 18.

“I cordially congratulate you on your convicting victory in the presidential elections.  The voting results are another clear confirmation of your high political authority and the broad support by Russian society for the state policy to ensure sustainable socioeconomic development of the country and strengthen its international positions,” reads the message.

Tajik leader further notes that Tajikistan “attaches significant importance to the steady development of strategic partnership and allied interaction between Tajikistan and Russia.”

“We highly appreciate your significant contribution to strengthening the entire range of relations between our countries.  I am ready to continue making joint efforts aimed at bringing multifaceted cooperation between the two countries to new heights for the benefit of our peoples,” Rahmon says in his message of congratulations.

Meanwhile, the European Council president congratulated Vladimir Putin on his big win in the Russian presidential election just as three days of voting began.  He wrote on X on Friday, “Would like to congratulate Vladimir Putin on his landslide victory in the elections starting today.  No opposition.
