On Monday May 27, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, who arrived in Tajikistan on a working visit.

The Tajik president’s official website says that in the course of the talks, the parties discussed the state and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan and Russia and some other important bilateral topics.

Special attention was reportedly paid to the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of labor migration and security.

Emomali Rahmon emphasized the importance of further strengthening the relations between the ministries of internal affairs, as well as the effective results of the joint work of the relevant bodies of both countries to prevent and detect crimes, fight terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and other forms of transnational organized crime, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

The parties reportedly expressed satisfaction over the efforts to implement the agreements that had been reached recently at the highest level on solving the labor migration problems.

The Tajik leader particularly emphasized the importance of taking all the necessary measures to strengthen the legal and social protection of Tajik labor migrants working in the Russian Federation.  

The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation heading a senior government delegation arrived in Dushanbe to hold the next round of negotiations on a set of issues of cooperation between the parties in the field of migration.
