Russia has appointed a new head of Rossotrudnichestvo’s office in Tajikistan.

Rossotrudnichestvo’s Telegram says Andrei Patrushev was appointed to head Rossotrudnichestvo’s office in Tajikistan on June 1.

It is noted that in various years of his career, Andrei Patrushev had held senior positions in the field of international education at the Ural Federal University named after Boris Yeltsin in Yekaterinburg and the Tyumen State University in the city of Tyumen.

Patrushev replaced Ivan Ivanov, who had served as head of Rossotrudnichestvo’s office in Tajikistan since 2020.  Prior to this, Ivanov headed Russian House in the Tajik northern city of Khujand.

The Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation[ or Rossotrudnichestvo is an autonomous Russian federal government agency under the jurisdiction of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  It is primarily responsible for administering civilian foreign aid and cultural exchange.

Rossotrudnichestvo operates in Central Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe (but mostly in the Commonwealth of Independent States).
