Tajikistan and China have agreed to expand bilateral cooperation in the field of transportation and logistics.   Tajikistan’s Ministry of Transport (MoT) and Kashgar Jinlida International Logistics Center Co., Ltd have agreed to expand bilateral cooperation.  The parties reportedly signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of transportation and logistics, the MoT press center says.

The document was reportedly inked in Dushanbe on May 29 by Mr.  Rahmiddin Salomzoda, Director of the State Unitarian Enterprise (SUE) Road Transport and Logistics Services at a Mot, and Mr. Yan Xijang, Director-General of the Jinlida International Logistics Center Co., Ltd in Kashgar, China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR).

The document reportedly provides for further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and China in the field of transportation and logistics as well as development of international road and container shipping.

Kashgar Jinlida International Logistics Center Co., Ltd will offer support in providing free parking and accommodation to Tajik drivers on a preferential basis and will make available free assistance, including legal assistance, in case of problems (fraud by shippers or intermediary companies, incorrect cargo registration, the expiry of visa, technical errors, driver illness), according to the MoT press center.

Kashgar Jinlida International Logistics Center Co will also assist in creating favorable conditions for the transportation of goods, in providing services to Tajik drivers for loading and unloading cargo, in providing Tajikistan’s transport means with cargo in Kashgar on a preferential basis.

The parties reportedly also intend to exchange experience, promote the participation of specialists from both countries in workshops, internships and other events for the purpose of professional development.

The parties are also establishing cooperation on the use of digital technologies to ensure road safety and simplify the process of transporting goods, the MoT press center notes.

Located in China’s north-west Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Kashgar serves as a key logistics hub for goods transported between China and Central Asia, South Asia and other regions.  According to XUAR customs authorities, the logistics hub is expected to raise customs clearance efficiency for goods from Kashgar to countries in Central Asia and Europe by at least 30 percent, and in the meantime, to lower transportation costs by about 15 percent.
