President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and his accompanying delegation, who arrived in Tehran on Tuesday to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president, met with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution this morning, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

During the meeting, the parties discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran.  

Emomali Rahmon reportedly congratulated the Leader of the Revolution of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the successful holding of the presidential elections in Iran and expressed confidence that the Tajik side, in cooperation with the new government of Iran, will further develop relations between the two countries.

Tajik leader recalled the historical and cultural commonality of the two countries, as well as the parties’ interest in expanding ties in the spirit of mutual understanding, partnership, mutual respect and trust, and emphasized “the firm determination of the Tajik side to continue this process.”

While expressing satisfaction with the steady development of political, economic, trade, scientific and cultural ties, especially in recent years, both parties reportedly expressed hope that this fruitful process will continue steadily in the future.

They also discussed a number of reginal and international issues being of mutual interest.
