On August 22, Presidents of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Kazakhstan KassymJomart Tokayev held teteatete talks in Dushanbe and in an expanded format with the participation of delegations from both sides.

During the meeting, issues of further cooperation in the political, trade, economic, investment, financial and banking spheres, as well as in the fields of industry, energy, agriculture and other areas of mutual interest were discussed, the press service of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan reports.

The Head of Tajikistan stressed that Kazakhstan occupies a leading position among Tajikistan's trading partners and the indicators of trade turnover between the two countries have stable growth dynamics.

The volume of mutual trade turnover in the first half of this year increased by almost 20% compared to the same period last year.

There are 92 joint ventures with investments from Kazakhstan in Tajikistan and 89 enterprises with the participation of Tajik entrepreneurs in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Over the past 5 years, Tajikistan's economy has received $700 million in investments from Kazakhstan.

At the same time, there is great potential for further expansion of cooperation in the trade, economic and investment spheres. This is indicated by the results of the TajikKazakh business forum, which was held on August 21 in Dushanbe as part of the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan. On the sidelines of this event, 14 commercial contracts and cooperation agreements totaling $1.2 billion were signed.

The Presidents noted that there are many opportunities for the implementation of joint projects in the field of industry in Tajikistan, including in the mining, light, food and chemical industries, as well as the metallurgical sector.

The parties recognized the need to accelerate the implementation of the project to create three logistics centers for the supply of agricultural products from Tajikistan to Kazakhstan.

It was said that today more than 80% of Tajikistan's fruit and vegetable exports go to Kazakhstan and this process tends to grow. At the same time, a large volume of wheat, flour and other grain products is imported from Kazakhstan to Tajikistan. Last year, the share of grain in the total structure of Tajikistan's imports from Kazakhstan amounted to almost 40%.
