Tajik President Emomali Rahmon yesterday left for New York to participate in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 79).

The Tajik president’s official website says the Deputy Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister, the Presidential Adviser for International Affairs, the Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population, the Minister of Finance and some other high-ranking state officials are accompanying Emomali Rahmon on his visit to New York.     

Some sources say the head of state is expected to hold a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly. 

The 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 79) opened on September 10m 2024, and the high-level General Debate will open, September 24, and continue through Saturday, September 28, and conclude on Monday, 30 September 2024.

The theme for the General Debate of the 79th session of the General Assembly is "Leaving No One Behind: Acting Together for the Advancement of Peace, Sustainable Development and Human Dignity for Present and Future Generations".
