His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, on October 12 officiated the inauguration of a 63 km 110kV transmission network connecting Khorog to Qozideh, which links Ishkashim District to the regional grid at a 110kV capacity. Additionally, a 22 km 35kV transmission line in Vanj District was inaugurated. These developments result in a significant enhancement in the quality and reliability of electric power supply for the residents of Ishkashim and Vanj districts.

“The Government of Tajikistan is steadfastly committed to ensuring that every community, regardless of its size or remote location, has reliable access to electricity,” emphasized Daler Juma, Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan. “Over the past 33 years of national independence, and through the unyielding dedication of the Government of Tajikistan, Pamir Energy, its founders, and our esteemed development partners, we have achieved remarkable milestones in expanding the electricity network in the Viloyati Mukhtori Kuhistoni Badakhshon (Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region, or gbao). Today, an impressive 98% of the region's population benefits from clean and reliable electricity.”

Both infrastructure components have been successfully completed as part of the World Bank-financed Tajikistan Rural Electrification Project. In addition to the newly commissioned 63 km 110kV Khorog-Qozideh transmission network and the 22 km 35kV Vanj transmission network, the project has enabled Pamir Energy to connect 27 settlements, benefiting a total population of 4,400 people to the regional grid. Furthermore, by the end of 2025, an additional 35 settlements with a combined population of 7,600 will gain access to clean and reliable electricity through a combination of hydro, solar, and wind micro-grids.

Mr. Ozan Sevimli, the Country Manager of the World Bank Group expressed, "The World Bank Group is honored to collaborate with the Government of Tajikistan and Pamir Energy Company to unlock the full potential of clean and reliable energy access for all communities in VMKB. As we advance, our unwavering collective commitment will ensure that even the most remote communities receive the energy they need, driving progress and enhancing well-being throughout the region."

“With the continued support of the Government of Tajikistan and the World Bank, we are working together to ensure that the last 2% of VMKB population gain access to electricity in 2025.” noted Amrikhon Raimov, Director General of Pamir Energy
