Emirates news agency, WAMsays the final communiqué of the extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, held in Riyadh, urged the international community to take concrete measures to support Palestinian rights and address escalating Israeli policies in the region.

The communiqué reportedly called on countries to ban the export of weapons to Israel and join a diplomatic initiative led by Turkiye, supported by 52 nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the League of Arab States, to urge the UN Security Council to halt arms transfers to Israel.

It also called for accountability of Israeli officials at the International Criminal Court for alleged crimes against Palestinians.

The communiqué reportedly emphasized the need for an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, calling for a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine. Additionally, it urged support for Palestine’s bid for full UN membership, backed by Algeria's ongoing efforts.

Furthermore, the summit condemned Israeli settler violence, urging nations to classify certain settler groups as terrorist organizations.

It also reaffirmed support for the Arab Peace Initiative and commended international alliances promoting a two-state solution, including a newly formed coalition spearheaded by Saudi Arabia.

The summit concluded with a call for urgent humanitarian support to Lebanon and Syria, condemning Israeli aggression in these countries, and stressed the need for international protection for Palestinians while promoting unity within Palestinian leadership.

The communiqué tasked a ministerial committee with continuing efforts to end the aggression on Lebanon and mobilizing Global South actors to support peace initiatives in the region.
