The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) has issued a statement warning citizens not to trust fraudulent announcements that scammers post on social media under the bank's name.

The statement clarified that such announcements (as seen in the image below) have no connection to the bank.

“Do not disclose your personal information—name, surname, bank card number, and confidential codes requested via messages,” emphasized Tajikistan’s national financial regulator.

Recently, cases of online fraud have increased in Tajikistan.  Scammers have previously used the names of well-known companies and individuals, including Toyota, Beko, Eskhata Bank, Amonatbonk, Dushanbe City Bank, as well as the president of the country and the mayor of Dushanbe, to deceive citizens.

The Interior Ministry’s Office in Dushanbe has also warned citizens about the rise in fraud cases on online classified platforms.

According to the Dushanbe police, fraudsters post ads for goods or services, demand prepayment, and then disappear after receiving the money, with their phone numbers becoming unreachable.

Overall, the Interior Ministry reports a recent increase in fraud cases, not only on social media and messaging platforms but across internet platforms in general.
