The Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed a grant agreement worth US$500,000, the Ministry of Transport's press service says.

The document was inked in Dushanbe on December 12 by Tajikistan’s Minister of Transport, Azim Ibrohim, and the EBRD’s Permanent Representative in Tajikistan, Holger Wiefel.

The funds will be allocated to implement a modern Road Asset Management System (RAMS) in the country.

Speaking at the agreement signing ceremony, the Minister highlighted the importance of support from international partners, such as the EBRD, the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency, in advancing this system.

“RAMS is not just a technical tool but also an essential approach that will ensure the long-term safety and efficiency of our road network,” the Minister emphasized.

The project will involve consultancy services aimed at improving road asset management and creating conditions for more informed decision-making in road construction and maintenance.
