The first group of Tajik citizens will depart for South Korea in the first quarter of 2025 to work as welders, according to Tajikistan's Ministry of Labor, Migration, and Employment of the Population (MoEMEP).

This initiative is part of an agreement signed between the labor ministries of Tajikistan and South Korea.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on October 31, 2024, in Dushanbe, enabling workers to participate in South Korea's Employment Permit System (EPS).

Eligibility Criteria:

·         Tajik citizens aged 18–39.

·         Conversational proficiency in Korean.

·         Certified qualifications in welding.

Where to prepare

Training and language courses are available at the following centers:

·         Dushanbe: Center for Adult Education (+992 909 22 21 22, +992 988 50 78 70).

·         Bokhtar: Vocational Training Center (+992 907 99 84 89, +992 933 28 83 83).

·         Khujand: Vocational Training Center (+992 92 807 9999).

Candidates will undergo Korean language exams and document preparation under the supervision of South Korean representatives.

The memorandum also outlines mechanisms to protect the rights and interests of Tajik workers in South Korea, ensuring their well-being and minimizing potential negative outcomes.

Amid stricter migration laws in Russia and Western sanctions affecting its labor market, Tajikistan is exploring new migration opportunities.  Many Tajiks are now working in Germany, Poland, the Baltics, Romania, and the United Kingdom.

Last year, around 1,000 Tajik workers went to harvest fruits and vegetables in Europe.
