Russia expects that military contingents from CIS countries will be able to take part in the Victory Parade in Moscow on May 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during an informal CIS summit at the Igora ski resort in Leningrad oblast, RIA Novosti reports.

“Dear friends, we are looking forward to welcoming you to the anniversary celebrations in Moscow on May 9,” Putin said at the informal CIS summit.  “We also expect that military contingents from CIS countries will be able to participate in the parade on Red Square.”

He recalled that 2025 has been declared the Year of Peace and Unity in the Fight against Nazism in the CIS.

"Honoring the veterans and home front workers who defended our freedom and independence, we must strive to preserve the historical truth about the events of those years and remember the price paid for liberating the world from Nazism, promoting the perception of the victory achieved in 1945 as a shared value for all humanity," Putin emphasized.

Earlier, the Russian president invited military units from CSTO countries to participate in the Red Square parade.

Moscow reportedly also extended separate invitations to the armed forces of Belarus and North Korea.
