The Sanitary Oversight Service of the Ministry of health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan (MoHSPP) has temporarily suspended the operations of 651 facilities over the past year due to violations of sanitary and hygiene standards.  The MoHSPP press center says this was announced during the ministry's annual meeting, which took place on January 8.

The agency reportedly inspected over 16,800 facilities, uncovering numerous violations.  The suspended establishments included hair salons, restaurants, fast food outlets, beauty salons, and other facilities.

As a result of the inspections, over 11,000 citations were issued, and 413 tons of substandard or expired products worth 5.14 million somonis were confiscated and destroyed.

It was noted during the meeting that Tajikistan currently has 3,342 pharmaceutical institutions providing medicines and medical supplies to the population and healthcare facilities.

In 2024, 257 licenses were issued for pharmaceutical activities, including transactions involving narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and precursors used in medicine.

Additionally, 67 domestic enterprises are operating in the country, producing over 598 types and 351 names of medicines and medical devices—an increase of six enterprises and 27 new types of products compared to 2023.
