As part of the humanitarian project, Food Basket 2025, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will provide assistance to 35,000 vulnerable people in Tajikistan.  According to the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Dushanbe, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center will distribute 7,120 food packages valued at a total of US$400,000.

Each food basket, weighing approximately 70 kg, includes flour, vegetable oil, sugar, rice, legumes, and other essential goods purchased from local markets.

“These packages will provide food for a family of five for one month, and the total weight of all the baskets exceeds 490 tons,” the embassy noted.

The selection of recipients is being carried out jointly with the Government of Tajikistan and Tajikistan’s Red Crescent Society.

The Saudi Embassy in Dushanbe also stated that the Food Basket 2025 project is one of the humanitarian initiatives of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, which this year will be implemented in 25 countries during the holy month of Ramadan.

It is worth recalling that last year Saudi Arabia also provided humanitarian aid to the residents of Dushanbe on the occasion of Ramadan.

The assistance was distributed across four districts of the city and included 7,427 food baskets.

Each basket contained flour, sugar, oil, pasta, tea, beans, rice, mung beans, and other grains.

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) was established by King Salman bin Abdulaziz in 2015.  The Supervisor General of the KSRelief is Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah.  The Center was established in the framework of the Saudi’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of those in need worldwide.  Since 2015, numerous humanitarian projects have been implemented, including food security, infrastructure restoration, housing provision, and healthcare initiatives. The total funding has exceeded US$16.1 million.
