The Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan, Daler Juma, met with the Minister of Energy of Iran, Abbas Aliabadi, in Tehran on February 17 in Tehran.

The Tajikistan’s Ministry of Energy and Water Resources (MoEWR)’s Telegram channel says that during the meeting, the parties discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, the implementation of joint projects, and prospects for integration into the energy industry.

Juma and Aliabadi are co-chairpersons of the Tajikistan-Iran Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic cooperation.

The discussion reportedly also touched upon preparations for the next meeting of the Commission, which is scheduled to take place in the first half of 2025 in Iran.

Daler Juma’s visit to Iran is part of the official trip of the Tajikistani delegation, led by Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda, and serves as a continuation of the strengthening of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Iran.

It is worth noting that in January 2025, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian paid a state visit to Tajikistan.  As a result, 23 documents were signed, significantly enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Additionally, a number of agreements worth over US$450 million were concluded, reaffirming the strong commitment of both sides to expanding their partnership.

Earlier, Emomali Rahmon, speaking at the Tajikistan-Iran trade, investment, and tourism forum, stated that utilizing Tajikistan's hydropower potential "will benefit not only the republic but also the countries of the region, including Iran."
