Over 310 Tajik capital-backed enterprises operating in Uzbekistan

As of February 1, 2025, there were 15,163 foreign-invested companies and enterprises in Uzbekistan, according to the Agency for Statistics under the Government of Uzbekistan.

Approximately 5,400 of these companies were established with investments from other CIS countries.

Among CIS nations, the top three investors in Uzbekistan are:

  • Russia
  • Kazakhstan
  • Tajikistan

 

Currently, 315 enterprises in Uzbekistan operate with Tajik capital, with the most recent one registered in January 2025, according to the agency’s data.

 

Foreign investment growth in Uzbekistan

In January 2025 alone, the number of new foreign-invested enterprises in Uzbekistan increased by 292 (or 2%).

 

Tajik-Uzbek economic cooperation

Official data on Uzbek-invested enterprises in Tajikistan is not publicly available.

However, estimates suggest that around 70 such enterprises exist in Tajikistan.

According to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade, over 370 joint enterprises currently operate in both countries—a significant increase from just 17 in 2017.
